Hi, I’m Maike Preißing (she/her), a 30-year-old neurodivergent psychologist from Germany. In 2019, I graduated from Leopold-Franzens University in Innsbruck, where I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Over the last 5+ years I have supported adults with mental health challenges and neurodivergence in different settings.
One of the most formative experiences in my early career was joining a research team in the Papuan highlands of Indonesia to study female sexual health—an adventure that deepened my curiosity and passion for understanding human complexity.
Today, I live in Oxford and focus on consulting around neurodiversity, particularly autism and synaesthesia. With over 10 forms of synaesthesia myself, this area continues to fascinate me. That’s why I created synaesthes_a, a digital space for synaesthesia-inspired art, community, and resources.
The inspiring stories I encountered through this space led to the launch of my podcast Let’s Talk Synesthesia in 2023, where I interview experts by experience and/or training from around the world. The podcast became a place to explore not only synaesthesia, but also the broader intersections of mental health and neurodivergence - especially in late-discovered autistic and ADHD adults.
While I no longer offer one-on-one support, I remain deeply committed to education and advocacy in these fields. My background and lived experience shape my current consulting work, which focuses on improving understanding and inclusion around neurodiversity and synaesthesia.
Check my podcast and Instagram platform to stay in the loop on community events, resources, and new episodes. I’m looking forward to meeting you!
